 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl officials and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation announced today both the official date for the 2009 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl and the three-year renewal of R+L Carriers’ sponsorship of the Bowl game.
The ninth annual R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl will be held in the Louisiana Superdome on Sunday, December 20th at 8:15est on ESPN.
In addition to the date confirmation, Bowl officials also announced a three-year renewal of their title sponsorship with R+L Carriers, continuing the partnership through the 2011 game.

 On Tuesday, the Southern Miss Department of Athletics requested and received additional tickets for the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl after selling its original allotment of 6,875. “We are extremely excited about the number of tickets we have sold so far and we want to thank our fans for the great support they have shown for our team and coaches,” said Southern Miss Director of Athletics Richard Giannini. “We also want to stress to our fans that they can still buy tickets in the Southern Miss section from our ticket office. Our goal is to turn the city into Southern Miss Black and Gold that weekend.” The Golden Eagles, who are making their seventh-straight bowl appearance and 19th overall, have only sold more bowl tickets to the 1997 and 2003 Liberty Bowls. Faulk to Marshall Luncheon |

 Former NFL MVP and current NFL analyst Marshall Faulk returns home for the 2008 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Luncheon, Friday Dec. 19th, held at the New Orleans Marriot. Faulk, born and raised in New Orleans, will be the keynote speaker at the 7th annual luncheon, addressing the teams and luncheon guests. Marshall will join a prestigious list of previous speakers that includes Archie Manning, Joe Theisman, and Tommy Lasorda, to name a few.
Also featurded at the luncheon will be the presentation of the 2008 Inspirational Award Winner, Entergy Scholarship Winner, and a moderated preview of the matchup with both head coaches.
